We are living in turbulent times. Sometimes it is difficult to keep our sprits up with negativity swirling around us. Taking time to rejuvenate is crucial so we can live a meaningful and even hopeful life. Luckily, wellness tools can make things easier, are effective, often inexpensive, and even fun!
I recently took a hike with my friend Mary Ellen on the Beaver Pond Towpath, which is part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area. I took a lot of photographs along the way, including this Great Blue Heron, one of my favorite and luckiest birds of all time. It was big time fun taking the picture, and it is big time fun looking at it now. Being involved with nature is very uplifting.
Kids wearing tennis shoes with lights on them, especially if they are jumping around. They seem blissfully unaware of what a wonderful light show they are creating!
Going to a greenhouse for the first time in the Spring reminds me of being in a cathedral with the light streaming in and colorful flowers everywhere. Sacred beauty surrounds me and possibilities galore abound. I grab a cart at my favorite garden store - Graf Growers in Copley, Ohio - and I usually wander around until my cart is full and I am flower happy!
Watching little kids play sports. I especially loved watching our children, Maribeth and Kevin, play baseball as young as 6 years old. There is a lot of excitement when a child hits the ball and starts running around the bases. When it is time for the outfielder to catch the ball, they jump into the air, and maybe they will catch it, and maybe not - but there will be a big show involved! In professional baseball, the arm goes up, the ball is caught. Our grandson Nate is finishing out his senior year as a pitcher for Wittenberg University. Our other grandson, Andrew, switched from baseball to music when he was younger. Those musical benefits were outstanding too!
I love keyword searches! I am a very curious person and I have appreciated the exciting results of specfic explorations.
“lift someone's spirits”
cause someone to become more cheerful.
"your kind words truly lifted my spirits"
Sometimes the results can be a call to action and even improve the quality of your life! This keyword search inspire me to fling some kind words around the next time I get a chance!
I love quotations! They have been a lifeline to me during tough times and a beacon of glory during great times. Quotations are wisdom summarized. I have collected quotes for as long as I can remember. Here is one of my recent favorites:
“Happiness is a form of courage.” - George Holbrook Jackson

I just hiked down at the beaver trail last week! (Or maybe the week before?) I caught a big Blue Heron with my camera as well. What joy!
